Celebrating 103 Years!

Death Valley NPS Albright and Mather

On this day, Aug 25th, the National Park Service came into being when then President Woodrow Wilson signed the National Park Service Organic Act of 1916.

Happy 103rd Birthday NPS!

Behind the scenes, though, it was two fellows, a borax executive who created the famous Death Valley 20-Mule Team trademark and name, Stephen T. Mather, and Death Valley area local and also part of the “borax family,” Horace Albright who created it.

Thank you to all the women and men of the NPS who work to care for our national treasures aka our National Parks!
