Saluting 250 Years of Mules and America

The Death Valley Conservancy is proud to be part of this year’s Mule Days, celebrating the spirit, strength and character of the mighty mule. You may have seen us around — working with leading mule and wagon experts, we built replicas of the Borax Twenty Mule Team wagons used to haul ore out of Death Valley more than a century ago.

This year, DVC is especially excited to help bring two of the Twenty Mule Team wagons from Laws Museum into Mule Days activities. The water wagon will be on static display in the auditorium, and the front freight wagon will return to the Mule Days parade and arena, pulled by six mules and driven by Bo Tanner with an experienced crew including those from the DVC.

These wagons have been part of Mule Days since they were built and are on exhibit at the Laws Museum right here in Bishop. They serve as a symbol of our commitment to preserve and promote the iconic history of the region
